Has the internet has changed our relationship with food?

There has been much talk on this blog on the Michelin Guide and whether it is too elitist. It is an important brand and yields a lot of power in the world of haute cuisine. However, it started out as a simple guide to restaurants for travelers and today we have literally thousands of resources for restaurant or cooking advice on the internet, namely in the form of blogs.

Blogs have become immensely popular in the last decade, according to wikipedia.com there are over 156 million in existence, and food blogs have also become a large genre of the “blogosphere.” They provide endless amounts of recipes, photos, opinions, reviews, and discussions relating to food and cooking. Authors can be professionals in the food industry or simply food lovers, but this format allows equal voice to anyone who chooses to start their own blog and publish their opinions.

Food blogs are one the most accessible formats to look for recipes, discuss restaurants, share traditions, culinary experiments or in the case of this blog publish ideas relating to food identity. But does this resource promote freedom of access and aid how we discuss food, or, does it create such a cluttered community of opinions that becomes obsolete?
